Friday, December 8, 2018

Passing close to Hatti.........
One lone fisherman.

They opened up to bow for viewing.

We are holding on to our hats as we sit by the sea view pool.

All dressed up for Gala Night Dinner.
After dinner was the Captain's welcome toast on the main stage and then entertainment of Musicology with the Zuiderdam Dancers.
We had a night cap in the Ocean Bar.
Each night we had folded towel animals on our bed.

Our visit to Half Moon Cay

Thursday, December 7, 2017

This is the view of the island from the ship.
We are on the tender boat looking back at the ship.
Welcome to Half Moon Cay Bahamas!

We found chairs and sat in them for a while enjoying the blue water and white sand and warm sun!

We did take a little dip in the water, but found it to be a bit cool!

Around noon our so, we found where they were serving lunch... a Caribbean BBQ which was pretty good.
After lunch, we were ready to get back on the ship.
This is a pretty place and has some of the nicest beaches.
Dinner once again in the main dining room.
After dinner, we went to the show on the main stage, a comedian and was pretty funny.
After show, we relaxed in the Ocean Bar for a bit.

Embarking Day and Start of Cruise

Wednesday, December 6, 2017

We got up and started the day with breakfast before getting ready to get on shuttle for ship.  We arrived at the port a bit early so got all checked in without any trouble.  We were the 2nd group to get on the ship.  The room was ready, so we went to inspect our inside cabin.  We found the room to be very small! We did have our room steward change bed to two twin to give us a bit for room.
We walked around the ship and had lunch with a view...

Before we could leave, we had to attend the emergency drill.
Now to the fun part, leaving port!

We then went to dinner in the Main Dining Room.  I had salmon and
Creme Byrle--yum!!
After dinner, be had drinks outside enjoying the warm air.
This was a good start to our cruise!
I'm ready for Half Moon Cay tomorrow.

Cruise-December 2017 Travel & and Day before cruise

This is a view of  our itinerary for the cruise
First off, we have to get to Fort Lauderdale where we will board our ship, the Zuiderdam.
We left XNA on time, no problem flight to Houston.  We got to the Bush Airport and rode the Sky Tram to our Terminal.  We found our gate and then had lunch Tangle-wood.  Our flight was supposed to leave
at 6:34, but we had 2 gate changes and mechanical problems so had to switch planes.
We did not leave Houston until 8:30pm... Plus side, we had free tv which helped with the flight.
We finally got to Fort Lauderdale at 12:30am. We took a taxi to the hotel so almost 2:00 before getting to bed.  This was a long travel day!

Lay-over Day

Then to top that off, someone had set the alarm to go off and it woke us 3 times before I could turn it off.
We woke to Rain but it soon cleared.

These are views from our room.
This was taken outside the hotel.
We had a good breakfast, rested a bit, took showers, then walked to a strip mall close by.
There was a grocery store here where we got some lunch at their deli.  We ate outside of the hotel soaking up the warm air.
We spent a couple of hours sitting by the pool, it was warm with a nice breeze.

We later walked down the street to an Outback Steakhouse for dinner.
Back to room to get ready to embark on our cruise adventure.
Let the Adventure Begin!

Don and Amy Kayak the Mulberry

It was a pretty day in April when Don and I decided to rent sit up on kayaks and float the Mulberry River.
The river was a little low but just about right for a kayak.  The following are some of the pictures we took on the trip.  We had a great day!
